2010 CCT Annual Report

The time of writing our annual reports helps us to reflect on how well staff of the Centre for Constructive Theology have achieved our main objective, which is: to bridge the gap between formal academic theological enquiry and the practical needs and concerns of communities whose faith perspectives on the critical issues confronting South Africa have been undervalued in the past. For 2010, this main objective was broken down into the following specific objectives:

CCT Impact Assesssment Report 2010

Adaptable Learning Services (ALS) cc was contracted in October 2010 by the Centre for Constructive Theology (CCT) to assess the work of the CCT, facilitate a strategic planning workshop on 03 December 2010 and compile and submit a report by 26 December 2010. Fathima Osman acted as the external facilitator on behalf of ALS. (She will be referred to as “ALS facilitator” in this report.)

CCT Annual Report 2008

The work of the Centre for Constructive Theology continues to give us a reason to be grateful to God for giving us an opportunity to serve God in KwaZulu-Natal through our programmes. At a time when we thought we were going to close CCT, God answered our prayers by opening a chance to transform ourselves and return to the University of KwaZulu-Natal, in the School of Religion and Theology.

Therefore, in 2008 we concentrated our efforts in handing over the CCT to fit into the requirements of a university housed centre. As a result, in 2008 we channeled all our energies to make this move possible.

If one look at the students who are studying under CCT you will see that the Centre is doing a lot for these students. Apart from assisting the students with TEEC registration fees, there are other activities that the CCT is offering the students. Our students gain knowledge that is not available in the TEEC materials, through visiting different places that relate to their studies. I am not surprised to see them committed to their studies. This make me appreciate my work because there is progress. If we had enough human and financial resources, we would equip more leaders of mainly African Initiated churches with theological knowledge to spread the Word of God effectively in all places Kwa Zulu Natal and beyond.

CCT Annual Report 2007 - Linking Faith and Life in the New SA

We at the Centre for Constructive Theology are grateful to God for the activities of 2007.

Although we did very well in the Programme on Theological Education by Extention, we struggled in all the other programmes and 2007 turned out to be the most challenging year in the eleven years of the existence of the Centre for Constructive Theology.

CCT Annual Report 2006 - Women in Church and Society

Part of the ongoing work of the Women in Church and Society Desk at CCT has been to facilitate gender-awareness raising work-shops with faith communities.

However, due to the dwindling funds of the organisation much of this work became increasingly limited. At one of our board meetings it was decided that instead of trying to create new spaces for such engagement, that because many of us, like Prof. Phiri and Dr. Nadar work in the field of gender, that we could work within our existing networks to see how we could continue to facilitate such meetings. We are happy to report that we were able to conduct two workshops in 2006 at the Anglican Mothers' Union Retreat.

CCT Annual Report 2006 - Graduation

Graduation is one of the important events at CCT where we finally witness the achievements of our students. The graduation ceremony is held every year in Gauteng where TEEC (College) is located. Due to financial constraints we decided to have our own graduation in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Students now get an opportunity to celebrate this day with their families, members of the Church and the community. We are unable to hold graduation ceremony every year as the College does because we use a circular form of student enrolment.

CCT Annual Report 2006

By the grace of God the Centre for Constructive Theology (CCT) is at the end of yet another year. Though this was a trying year for me personally, the strength to continue working had come from the encouragement of all the members of CCT Board of Management and the eagerness of the general student body.
